How to Rate a Client

A user’s review plays an important role on how likely other users will collaborate with him or her in the future. While it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for freelancers to leave reviews for their clients.

Reviews should accurately reflect your experience in working with your clients. This properly sets the expectations of future freelancers with whom your client will be working.

The feedback option becomes available for both parties when a fixed-price project or hourly project is completed. A project is completed when it is fully paid or when the client marks the project as complete, for fixed-price projects and hourly projects, respectively.

The feedback option will be available for 90 days. When one of the parties leaves feedback, the other needs to do the same within 14 days. Otherwise, their option to leave a review will expire and only the feedback that was left will be posted. If both parties give feedback, both reviews will be posted on their respective profile pages at once.


Ways to Leave Feedback

I. Through the Dashboard page

Once your project is marked as completed, you will receive a notification about it together with your feedback option on your Dashboard.

Look for the notification, click Give Feedback, and the ratings and review section will appear. Complete the form and click Rate when done.


II. Through the project page

You will also see the link to leave feedback on your project's page.



Click on the link, and you will be redirected to the Leave Feedback page. On this page, you will be presented with five criteria to rate your client from one star to five stars. A five-star rating for a criterion means that your client is exceptional for that criterion. Once done with the ratings, leave a review on the comment box, and click Rate User.


III. Through the notification email for feedback option

You will receive a notification email about your option to leave feedback for a completed project if you are subscribed to project emails. The date when your feedback option expires will be stated on it.

To submit your feedback, click Leave Feedback on the email, and you will be redirected to the site.


IV. Through the Feedback page

The Feedback page displays all of your projects that await feedback. This includes your completed Fixed-Price projects, paid and marked as completed Hourly Projects, and completed contests. 

To go there, hover your mouse over My Projects and select Feedback. Look for the project in the list, and click Rate now. You will then be redirected to the Leave Feedback page. 

Note: Hourly projects cannot be given a final feedback through this way. Only the feedback option for invoices is listed here. To leave a final feedback for an hourly project, use the three previous ways instead.


Hourly Projects

You will be able to post reviews for every released payment for an hourly project. Once your client marks it as complete, the final feedback option will be enabled. All previous reviews for the paid invoices will not be posted on your profile page; only the final feedback will be posted.


Feedback Changes

Feedback modification is not available to users. Therefore, we encourage you to be accurate in the feedback that you leave for clients.
