You could say I'm addicted to Real Estate. I can't take a leisurely ride anywhere without scouting for "For Sale" signs. Can't let a great house go by without taking a look inside it (a "preview" is what we call it in the business.) Let's face it, I'm a snoop!
I am also the "responsible" Broker/Owner of Picket Fence Real Estate, a small residential brokerage in Burlington, Wisconsin. I've been doing this for 15 years, now.
When I'm not selling houses, I'm immersed in my other addiction: writing. An accomplished writer, I have been published in one of the largest newspapers in the nation, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I loved writing feature articles as a "Community Columnist," for the paper, a great gig for writing about whatever interests you. I received pretty positive commentary. My most popular column was written about the death of Andy Griffith, the Sheriff of America's favorite small town, Mayberry. How I wished I grew up there! Apparently, so did my readers, judging by the emotional responses I received.
The newspapers' Political Blog, "Purple Wisconsin," counted me as a contributor. You have to have thick skin to do that. We were encouraged to write to engage the reader in thoughtful banter. Those who disagree with you are the majority of those who write to you...and they can be a very tough audience. Many of the comments came from people who "followed" me...and I wouldn't necessarily call them my fans.
I also have a few years under my belt as a Technical Writer for companies like pharmaceutical giant, Baxter Laboratories. I'm a pro at writing to the eight-grade reading level. God help my husband, who can never leave a note without me proofreading it.
My skills at writing job procedures were perfected as an Office Supervisor for Siemens, having created manuals for all the administrative positions in my department. I also was a trainer for all those employees, as well.
I recently completed advanced education in Travel Writing, and am on my way, (literally,) to freelancing my way across the country.
My strong suits lie in the variety of writing I enjoy doing, my positive attitude, and coming across as genuine in my writing.
I love a challenge, and work great under pressure, (comes from my Realtor training!) Give me a shot at working for you. I have fun in everything I do!
