I am a METU Physics graduate who focused on Optoelectronics and Test & Measurement branches of the curriculum. I make most of my projects with electronics on perfboard (sometimes designing on KiCAD), Arduino as microcontroller and I use FreeCAD to design the other necessary parts, then I print them on Ender 3 Pro.

Plant watering device
Arduino Nano + ESP8266 Wireless Module + 2x SG90 Servo + 3D printed parts (FreeCAD, Ender3 Pro) + water valve
Mobile App made with MIT App Inventor

Device is accessible by local network through the android app. Remote access requires port forwarding and static ip. Automatic mode settings are kept in EEPROM in case of a power cut.

Soil moistures are measured using voltage dividers with 2 carbon rods in soil (metal rods oxidize and change resistance over time). Arduino drives two servos, one for water valve and other for directing water into the channels. ESP8266 is used only for communication over the wifi, and storing the settings in EEPROM. Parts are designed in FreeCAD and printed on an Ender3 Pro, using black PLA.
