Contest Brief

We are a company that extract data from the web and supplies it to our customers via a JSON API.

We need a graphic to sit on the homepage of one of our brand websites - the mockup is attached and the graphic needs to sit where the red box is highlighted. It must depict how we extract search engine results (eg Google, Bing) and turn them into machine-readable JSON. A horribly designed example is in the mockup.

We need a graphic that:

- works with our existing design
- explains the process simply and efficiently
- can be animated, but that is not a requirement
- will work in our responsive design (eg. a vertically collapsed example as well as a horizontal one)

For the winning bidder, we have a follow-on project to create a similar graphic for another of our brands.

I don't know why everyone is copying this "search engine > json API > customer" style of design, but it makes no sense. Users do not consume our API.

May I suggest you give some insight on how your data extracting process actually develops? That way we can deliver a more precise and easy-to-understand design.

  Hello. The actual inner workings of the extraction process aren't very relevant to this contest. We want to distill it down to the raw input and output (in this case, HTML pages into JSON)
