Logo Design Required

Contest Brief

I need to have a creative logo designed for a site called "League Commander". This site will be used to market software which will assist sports leagues run their day to day operations such as schedules, online registration, referee assignment and basically anything a sports league needs to do.

The only requirement I have is that it has to be a vector graphic (EPS, AI, etc) so it can be resized larger down the road. Otherwise it is up to your creativity.

I was thinking about a design with either a military helmet incorporated into it or a professional looking military cartoon character and possibly having different sports items (baseball, hockey puck, etc) incorporated into the logo in their own layer so that I can show and hide these layers to make the logo sport specific. And also having a layer with all of these items for a generic logo for all sports.

But any other creative ideas you may have would also be welcome! I want this logo to really be memorable for visitors.

I have added a couple of image with similar ideas to what I am looking for - but their demeanor should be happier that some of these images!
