Contest Brief

The Institute for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy, established since 2022, is located in Katerini, Greece. The Institute is directly affiliated with the International Hellenic University, and specifically with its Department of Supply Chain Management. The Institute for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy focuses on theoretical and applied scientific knowledge in a wide variety of functional areas, indicatively: (i) Environmental Management, (ii) Environmental Engineering, (iii) Green supply chains, (iv) Reverse Logistics, (v) Life Cycle Thinking, (vi) (Social) Life Cycle Assessment, (vii) Industrial Symbiosis, (viii) Environmental Informatics, (ix) Sustainable Entrepreneurship, (x) Development of ICT-based tools for sustainable development. Emphasis is given to fields related to sustainable agriculture, sustainable tourism and green logistics.
The personnel of the Institute for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy have long research experience in ICT, policy impact assessment, decision support systems and tools, sustainable development and environmental management. Emphasizing on its regional character, the Department, and correspondingly the Institute, has implemented successfully several academic and research programs in the framework of regional funding programmes, such as Interreg and Black Sea. The participation in research projects has assisted academics and researchers to gain significant experiences in the examined fields. In this light, the academic and research staff has published several research papers in top scientific journals and proceedings of widely acknowledged international conferences.
