Contest Brief

HI there,
I’m looking for a long-term graphic designer who can help me with weekly SM posts. The work will include:
- Video thumbnails (max 8/month)
- Social media posts (teaching a word using nice graphics, this will be on Facebook and instagram (max 8/month)
- Channel art, YouTube banner etc (Additional designs) that I will pay you extra for

The salary will be 150 USD/month.

We teach Chinese online via a video-based course. We post content on YouTube and Facebook but will also start posting on instagram.


In order to rate your entry correctly you will need to submit 4 designs for different posts.

However, I suggest you start with 1 design and wait for my feedback unless you’re very confident about your skills.

I’m looking for commonalities in the designs as people need to be able to recognise our design instantly and so that it saves time for you in the future when you design new graphics.

Design 1: Interview video thumbnail.

The topic/title should be: “When was your first kiss?” Or “First Kiss” etc.

Or come up with your own suggestion.

Design 2: Line-up videos.
We produce line-up videos where 50 Chinese people answer one question, a bit like this channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBlEhVtI1j0

The topic is: Is Trump a good President? Or something like that.


Design 3: Teaching graphics
We want to teach short things and present it in a simple and concise way.
The title should be something like: Chinese is just a puzzle - we’ll help you solve it.

Then show the two characters 火 (fire) ? and show the graphics for it so you can see how similar the character is to the real thing.
Then write 山 (mountain) ⛰️ and present it in a similar way.

Then you put those two together and you show volcano.
火山 means “volcano” in Chinese (lit. Fire mountain). ?
Then maybe add a question/message in the bottom, “see what I mean?”

If it’s not clear you can add some text to explain the word along the way.

Design 4: Did you know?
We want to make posts like” did you know…” And this is a typical one to what we’ll be posting.
Please try to come up with a nice design for the following.

吃哪补哪
Did you know there is a Chinese version of "You are what you eat". There is even an old saying, 吃哪补哪 chī nǎ bǔ nǎ, lit eat what be what, which means if you wanna be smart, you gotta eat some animal's brains?


These are the 4 designs I will need, and future designs will follow these standards.
