Contest Brief

The War Writers' Campaign is looking for a graphic designer to design a 6x9 cover for an upcoming publication: War On Repose.

This is a memoir written by a Vietnam veteran about his time aboard the USS Repose as a Navy Corpsman. The novel is a coming of age story about a young man finding his way through the military as a homosexual before gays were openly allowed to serve.

"David Lara was 14 years-old when his father tried to kill him. The shocking event launches a story that begins with struggle, leads to war and hurtles to revolution.

Though the world vilifies him, and he and his friends are the targets of military witch-hunts, he finds strength and confidence in the life he is forced to build, but comes to embrace.

This is only the beginning of a life that will change the American landscape.
'War On Repose' is a journey from Da Nang to Stonewall."

RULES FOR THE CONTEST:

We would like a 6x9 front cover design with all lettering at least 1/2" from the edges for bleed. We have a drawing of the USS Repose (attached) that can be utilized in the cover design, but is not mandatory. Original ideas are more than welcome! Winning designer will be credited inside the book in print and e-book runs. Great resume builder and a great cause to give back to military veterans.

  It's a .JPEG 2000 file, opens in photoshop - naturally, only after it has infected your system with goat virus and stolen all the bulbs from your light fittings. It's a bugger like that...
