CodeIngniter Website URL fix

Hello All,
We have developed an custom web in codeigniter and I wanted to remove [url removed, login to view] from URL....when I try to do it from .htaccess the website just doesnt work and give me the url something like this root/[url removed, login to view]
Its working fine in localhost (WAMP) but not in live server (centos 6)
