We have an application that was written in Visual Basic for Applications that is loaded through a document template in Word. This program loads when Word starts and builds a menu and document list that users can select their way through to find documents. The directories are menus and sub-menus and the documents and templates are menu items. It also ties in with a client database where if certain letters and envelope templates are opened it will allow a list of clients to populate the templates with.
The changes that would need to happen would be that it would not longer be tied directly to Word but rather it would open the appropriate word processing application on the computer. It would need to have an option to be set to "always on top" so they could see it while within the word processing application (currently it is a menu in Word). Finally, if possible, it would be able to tie into any Access database with the appropriate document fields based on the current code. Everything else should operate like the original.
All source code would be made available to you. The original source code is well documented. In speaking with the original programmer (who, unfortunately is too busy to take on this task) said that it should be a relatively easy process.
## Deliverables
Attached is a short video showing the installation and basic functioning. There is also a second video showing the database integration part. From what I understand of the program, the page that pulls up searches in the database for the appropriate information and when selecting it the document itself actually handles the data linking. Again, you would need to check the source code to verify this.
