Develop a PCL print driver for Win 2000 and XP that is PCL 5e compatible (same as HP Laserjet 4+) that will: 1) Not download fonts to the printer as raster graphics. PCL allows fonts to be either downloaded to the printer or sent as raster graphics. All True Type fonts must be sent to the printer NOT as raster. You can use any existing driver that ships with Windows if that helps. (It is possible you may not even have to develop this driver if you can find one with this functionality) 2) The driver will never actually be used for printing to a printer. It will be used to print PCL code to a file, so it is not necessary to support any printer features, other than PCL 5e compatibility. This driver will be used with another application to extract text from documents that are created by other applications. The other apps assume 600 dpi capability from the printer, and our PCL extraction software assumes this as well.
## Deliverables
1) All files necessary for using the driver(s) on Windows 2000 and XP. Complete and fully-functional working driver(s) in binary form as well as complete source code of all work done. All work must be coded in C++ (no basic) and we must be able to compile it on VC++6.0 and/or Microsoft Driver Development Kit tools. 2) All code will be thoroughly commented (documented) sufficient for another programmer to modify and/or understand any part of the code. The quality of your english does not matter, but we must be able to understand what you have done in all parts of your code. You can assume we are experienced Windows C++ programmers. 3) Optional: Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. Let me know if this is included in your bid. 4) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. This does not apply to driver files shipped with Windows.
