Importing products into Magento website from custom database

Hello,

I want to have products imported from a custom database (MySQL) into my Magento-webshop.

What's available:

- database with: title, description, category-ids, sku, price and link to (external) picture.

What should be build:

Importing/updating and deleting of products.

- Importing the products where EXPORTED_TO_SHOP = NULL

Before import:

- Check if SKU doesn't exist, otherwise throw an error in an errorlog

- Check if categories exist, otherwise throw an error in an errorlog

- The picture should be taken from the vendors website and uploaded in my webshop.

After import:

- Update the EXPORTED_TO_SHOP to the current date/time

- Update the products where EXPORTED_TO_SHOP = "0000-00-00 00:00:00"

Before update:

- Check if SKU exist, if it doesn't throw an error in an errorlog

- Check if categories exist, otherwise throw an error in an errorlog

After update:

- The SKU, categories, title, price, description and image should be updated

- Update the column "EXPORTED_TO_SHOP" in table "PRODUCTEN" to the current date/time

- Delete the products where READY_TO_DELETE = "1"

After deletion:

- Put those records in the table "deleted_products" with a timestamp of deletion

- Delete those records from the table "products"

- After the insert/update/delete is completed:

- Refresh cache (Bolt and std. cache) of the webshop for those categories which were modifed/updated/added/deleted

- Report number of products inserted, updated and deleted

Other requirements:

- It should be scheduled with a cronjob

- Preferable PHP, because it should run on my own server

- Only the products which are mention should be deleted, not a "delete all" (because the webshop also contains other products which haven't been uploaded via this process)

- Should work with Magento 1.7 and 1.9

- The errors and the successes should be written to 2 errorlogs ([login to view URL] or [login to view URL]) or to an logtable/database if you prefer that

- The source code should have comments in English so I'm able to extend it later by myself (adding more fields, selecting products based on query etc.)

- I prefer to have this insert/update/delete done by an XML-file or via SOAPcalls.

- No direct updates in the Magento database via SQL, because that isn't future-proof enough.

- Instead of an update you could also build a delete and insert, that's fine by me

The first time it will be around 2.000 products, after that it will be 100 products/day
