A VPC with load balancing to an autoscaling EC2 (hardened Ubuntu server running PHP, Apache, AWS CLI) instance group (3 min, 10 max) using S3 for storage and RDS for database. R53 mapping a domain name and SSL. SSH for connection. EC2 installed automated script for accessing a GIT repository and uploading changes to an EC2 instance through webhooks.
To be successful your template deliver this architecture when run. Example templates found here: [url removed, login to view]
2. Best advice to migrate from a DEV environment to a PREPROD environment to a PROD environment in AWS (with rollback and using the Cloud Formation architecture above) and the optimal tools to use and proof that you know how to do it.
