Hi Freelancer!
I am an independent iOS developer.
One of my clients has an iPhone app and set of webservices that I have built for them. The webservices allow mobile to mobile chat (similar to WhatsApp) using an internal list of contacts, and also to read the company noticeboard/view images.
The client has requested that we now extend this iPhone app across to the Android platform. I am looking for an experienced Android developer who can port the current iPhone app across to Android.
The functionality that will need to be included is:
1. Login screen - username and password based authentication, the user credentials are sent to the webservices encrypted and if valid a token is sent to the device allowing access to the app chat and news services.
2. Chat services
• Browsing the list of contacts from the webservices
• Selection of a contact
• Sending a message to the contact
• Receiving a message from the contact
All chat is supported by webservices, and it is anticipated that Android will use a notification system to alert users of new incoming chats. The chat system should operate very similar to the 'WhatsApp' application.
3. News Services
- List of news items
- Detail view of news item, including image if present (if no image is present, then the news item text should fill the screen)
It is anticipated that a new news item will result in a push notification sent to the users device, alerting them of the new item.
I have included the scope spec as an attachment, but will provide a full webservices spec (as well as UI spec) to the successful bidder.
I can take care of the necessary changes to the webservices to enable push notifications for Android - however it is expected that the developer be able to tell me what he/she wants with regards to this! If there is a cost to register for the notification service I will take care of it.
The Android application will be distributed exclusively in-house, NOT on the Android marketplace. Installation will need to be by clicking a URL. Again if there is a cost associated I will take care of it.
