A clear and organised articulation of an organisation’s purpose and intentions over time increases the possibility of survival beyond its start-up. You are required to research, prepare and assemble a business plan for the start-up of an organisation of your choice, using ICT techniques and knowledge gained in this module. You can choose any recognised organisational structure - for examples, small business, charity, social enterprise or even partnership - as long as you answer fully to the requirements of the tasks below: 1) Business Plan: Microsoft Word Use a web browser to research and write your business plan in Microsoft Word. Apply what you learn about information search, retrieval and use to meet the assignment requirements. See the marking criteria for guidance. The following sections are required: a) Cover page b) Table of Contents c) Executive summary d) Description of the organisation e) Products or Services f) Competitor Analysis g) Bibliography h) Appendices containing screenshots from 2) and 3) below. 2) Business Plan: Microsoft Excel Accurate and realistic financial data are part of a good quality business plan and can reassure potential investors or sponsors about your organisation. You will have costs, borrowing and repayment issues to identify and present in your plan. Use MS Excel to complete the following tasks: a) Costs: research price, make, model, RAM and Operating System of two different PCs. Present work in a worksheet titled Hardware Costs. b) Costs: research price, make, model, speed and resolution of two different colour printers. Present work in Hardware Costs. c) Costs: research the price, system requirements and vendor for one general purpose and one payroll software application. Present work in a worksheet titled Software Costs. d) Loans: You will borrow against your costs. Prepare two different monthly loan repayment schedules; one repayable over 36 months at 8.15% pa and the other repayable over 60 months at 6.67%. Present work in a worksheet titled Loans. e) Loans: If total borrowing costs exceed £5,000, select and display the total repayment (capital and interest) for the five year loan in the Loans worksheet by using an IF function. 3) Business Plan: Microsoft PowerPoint You may need to meet and present to investors, sponsors and other important people as you get the organisation started. Used well, presentation software contributes to a professional and polished approach to your work. Create five slides as follows: a) Introductory slide. Include an image or logo for your organisation. b) Organisational SWOT (minimum of two valid points per internal and external factor). c) Summary of start-up costs. Use a table. d) The borrowing requirement and repayment profile, formatted professionally in a table. e) Concluding slide. 4) Screenshots: Provide screenshots (use Snipping Tool or Print Screen) of all work in Excel and PowerPoint. For Excel, display both formulas and functions (use Show Formulas) and the formula results. Put screenshots in two Appendices after your Bibliography, titled Appendix A: Excel and Appendix B: PowerPoint.
