I need someone highly experienced in C programming to write a program that will take in a given set of parameters about a piston (e.g. its length, diameter, amount of gasoline, etc) and give its power output, and I would like the program to be able to optimize the performance of the piston when an arbitrary number of the parameters are left unspecified (e.g. what is the optimal diameter when the length of the piston is two feet and 1 ml of gasoline is supplied?). The physics behind this is moderately complicated, and it would be nice to work with someone who already has fairly substantial knowledge about this sort of thing. I will give more details of this project and the equations which I would like incorporated via phone.
I have a substantial knowledge of physics (I've taken college courses covering introductory physics at the University of Texas at Austin, and it's something I research in my spare time), and I am a pretty solid C programmer. I can do this job fast, I actually wrote a program similar to this in which I optimized the force generated by ice freezing and expanding in a tube (ie i determined the ideal tube length and width for maximizing efficiency given various freezing temperatures).
