RE: Content Writers for Blogs
Dear Hiring Manager:
As a former substitute teacher and teaching assistant I understand the need for creative and effective writing that's not only easy to read, but entertaining and informative. I also understand the importance of creating articles that stimulate reader curiosity to inspire an audience to learn more about the topic at hand. My strengths lie in research, writing, editing, presentations, and environmental or science-based issues. I've written speeches, articles, newspaper columns, press releases, and an assortment of reports and instructional materials. In addition, I'm currently editing a book for an author with a release date scheduled in early 2013. Having said all that, it would be an absolute pleasure to have an opportunity to write high-quality blogs for you on any topic.
As a freelancer, I am looking for opportunities that will allow me to use those strengths to help those who employ me to really shine. I have an M.S. in Environmental Management with an eye toward specializing in environmental remediation. My ultimate goal is to build a business and career where I can specialize in research and writing policies for professionals and organizations.
This proposal outlines the scope of work that you are requesting, including objectives, identification of responsibilities, and fees. Please note the following:
OBJECTIVE
Draft high-quality, effective blogs based on any topic to inspire the reader to want to return regularly to the blog website to learn more.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Writing the blogs and performing all revisions and edits are my responsibility.
My writing services include the following:
o Spell Checking - For correct spelling and correct word use. (For example, in the sentence "he board me with his speech". This should be "bored" as in disinterest and not "board" as in a wooden board or chalk board.)
o Grammar and Sentence Structure- Here I'm checking for proper sentence structure, correct voice and word placement. I also want to ensure that the meaning is clear and the writing is not overly flowery or wordy and convoluted.
o Flow of content - Does the overall sentence placement, structure, and word use, support the thesis, objective(s), or over-arching theme(s) that you're trying to get across to the reader?
o Editing and revisions - I understand after at least 20 years of writing and editing training manuals, press releases, weekly columns, and other types of communications, that revisions are a fact of life. If changes and revisions are needed, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly make all edits and revisions.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
I understand that if I am accepted for this project, I will meet all deadlines and I require that a formal contract be signed before I can work for the Company. I also understand that plagiarism and subcontracting are not acceptable. The source for the blog articles that I draft will be original in nature.
BENEFITS
My goal is not only your satisfaction with my writing services, but to produce for you professionally-written blog articles ready for immediate use on your website. Copies of all work will be maintained electronically and on-paper for one year from the date of submission. After one year from the date of the formal contract, both the electronic and paper forms of the articles will be shredded unless the employer has informed me otherwise. (I will send out a reminder notice 60 days prior to destruction/shredding.)
PROFESSIONAL FEES
As mentioned previously, all edits and revisions will be performed by me with the goal of producing a final and approved blog article acceptable to the employer. Blog articles will be submitted no later than 7 days (at the most) after the employer agrees to contract for my services. For each completed and approved blog article, an invoice for the balance of the $150 fee will be submitted by Alicia J. Wooten-Cherry (dba A Word to the Wise) and paid by the employer through Freelancer.com.
