Want a engineer that can come up with a realistic design using the standard heavy duty suction cup. The suction cup should be covered with a smooth dome. The latch can be engaged using using a servo or DC motor. The motor or servo can be internal or external to the suction cup. What I found was that if the suction cup was of 15cm to 20cm diametre, the servo with enough power can fit inside the shell and engage the latch. Anything small would make the servo too big to fit., except there is a veru powerful small servos I am not aware of. Please feel free to suggest best suction cups [login to view URL] [login to view URL]

Hi there, This is Bogdan from Romania. I'm a mechanical engineer, specialized in the industrial robotics, 3D modeler and designer. I have over 15 years work experience, designing, prototyping and launching different devices/systems across multiple industries. I could help with your project. Obs regarding your project: 1 - as you know, the standard suction cup are driven by a cam with a lever. using a servo (which have a linear mechanical output) is not the best solution. (you can't find a powerful enough servo with small dimensions). the solution consist in applying the linear motion in a different way to force the suction cup to follow the lip of the enclosure - i have the solution for that. 2 - in the picture attached, looks like the suction cup under the dome is jointed to a handling arm - if there are any movement around the arm's articulation (the position of the suction cup is not fixed relative to the arm) you will need a compliance device/adapter, and there are also solution for that, but I will need more details. For any other questions, you may open a chat room here and we'll discuss about the details. Regards Bogdan
