What you need to do: You are required to create a 2 page website to present a topic of your choice. This may be on football, make up, the rainforest, your favourite music or any other topic that you are interested in. The website must have: • Home/Landing page (this will be your first page and will be titled [login to view URL]) • A picture gallery page (this will be your second page) • Within your website you must also include at least one of: table, list, images, external hyperlink. You may include other features if you wish, but they must be implemented correctly. • The pages must have a clear navigation structure with clear links between the two pages and be written in semantic XHTML, using external cascading style sheets for presentation. Your CSS design should use either classes or id’s to further enhance your design. How to submit your work: 1. You must publish your web page by uploading all relevant files to the student webserver (see Webpage Publishing Instructions on StudySpace). 2. Your final code must be uploaded via the relevant DropBox on SudySpace (this will be made available by the course administrator approximately a week before the deadline). You must put all your coding into one document (see Web Page Code Submission Template). Are the page elements positioned appropriately? Are reading layouts observed? 15% Are all Elements included and used correctly: Headings & Paragraphs Table, List Hyperlinks Images Other features 30% Use of XHTML Are design and content separated? Has the website been written using XHTML? Are the correct elements used? 20% Use of CSS Has the CSS been implemented using external style sheet? Have selector/declaration blocks been used correctly? Class/ID used appropriately and correctly? Are fonts specified correctly? Are images positioned correctly? Appropriate use of blocks? 20% Attainment Level Key: N/A: Task Missing/Not implemented. Novice: Basic understanding and implementation of the task with a large number of errors or omissions. Competent: Very good understanding and implementation of the task with some omissions or errors remaining. Proficient: Excellent understanding and implementation of the task performed with no omissions and minimal or no errors. Feedback on your work: Your class tutor and PALs will be at hand during sessions to give you feedback on the design and implementation of your website. To help you get started on your project please complete and discuss the Preliminary Website Plan with your class tutor and/or a PAL mentor during one of your weekly sessions. There will be no formal lectures during the last two weeks of term (w/c 4th April and w/c 11th April) to allow you uninterrupted access to a computer labs to work on your website. Your class tutor and PALs will be available to give you feedback on your progress during your normal lecture hours in those two weeks.
