Background:
We develop online search pages for web sites.
Typically you have a quick search box in a header that appears at the top of each page on the site.
When you search, you have a search page showing the results of your search with another search box.
This search page has both the quick search box at the top, and the advanced search box, both on the same page.
Our current javascripts allow for autocomplete on only one search box per page.
Requirements:
We need the help of a Javascript expert to change / improve our legacy Javascripts to do the following:
1) Allow for autocomplete on multiple search boxes on the same page.
2) Allow a search box's autocomplete event to be hooked up to a different source (source supplies autocomplete suggestions for that particular search box)
This would allow for other configurations of search boxes, not always a quick and advanced search scenario that shares the same source.
3) On the search page with quick search and advanced search box, when searching a query using the quicksearch, allow for the quicksearch to be cleared when the results are displayed, but show the query in the advanced search box.
We have some legacy javascripts that we would prefer to be improved and modified to achieve the above results.
I have built a complex autosuggest feature for my existing project and i am confident that i could do this for you without any problem. Please also check PM.
