I need guidance on how best relay analog values (4-20 mA) from PLC (TM221CE16R + TM3AI8G) to a monitoring service (NAGIOS or similar) on a PC sever using ModbusTCP/IP communications. Debian based OS environment like Ubuntu preferred, but willing to consider Centos if that's better. I have Schneider Electric SoMachine Basic installed and communicating with the PLC already, and a Ubuntu server up and running on the same network. I have some experience running related systems from a consumer point of view, but would like explanations on how best build a monitoring system from a fairly low level.
