ASP MAP GRID and DB

Phase I: The programmer will divide the earth's latitude and longitude into 20 by 10 kilometer grids (at the equator). These grid boxes will narrow to 0 at the poles. These grids will be placed in a database format along with each grid box's corresponding polygon coordinates. >>World cities, province, population, decimal latitude, and decimal longitude for each city in specific or all nations need to be placed in a database. >>Each polygon Box needs a name (Box Name). This will be a city with population nearest the center. The program will have to create this list. If entirely over water, no name will be given. If partially over water, any name available and marked that the center was water and an alternate had to be chosen. >>The database now is a world list with some cities flagged as a Box Name centers, and some of these marked as choices made not in the center due to a water feature. The database will also have a lower left, lower right, upper left, and upper right coordinate field. (I assume these points are all that are needed for future work or modification.) I will check the completed database by importing the center decimal latitude and decimal longitude it into a map program Phase I is done. Phase II: With this database a person from any nation can select their nation then be given a drop down menu of the Box Name for where they live. This will likely be a flash outline map gridded by latitude and longitude that goes back to html to provide the drop down, or provides the drop down in flash.
