Ajax quickie

In one of the asp pages on my web site, I need to check if an email address already exists in a database without refreshing the page. I believe Ajax can do this for me. Currently the process is that the user enter an email address as part of filling out a form ([login to view URL]). Then he submits that page, which calls another page (add_submit_user). At this stage the app crashes if there is the same email address in the database. I know I can address this then, but I would rather catch this at the input stage. 1) what I need is a simple asp page example that asks for First Name, Last Name, email address, Description - in that order.
