I need a coder to add functionality to a PHP Facebook (social-scientific) survey research application. Some knowledge of the Facebook platform (or an interest in learning) is required). Specifically, I need a coder to: 1. Develop an efficient algorithm to build a relationship matrix for approximately 200 participants in a research study. All of the participants' Facebook friend IDs are stored in a MySQL database -- your task is to see if these friends are Facebook friends with each other. There are thousands of unique friend IDs, but I'm only interested in checking those relationships that are in the individual participants' Facebook friend networks. 2a. Develop a function to export this network data, in addition to previously-collected survey data, as individual DyNetML files. DyNetML is an XML-derived language for describing social networks, detailed here: [login to view URL] 2b. Develop a function to export this network data as UCINet edgelists, a plaintext format described here: [login to view URL] Of course, I'll be happy to elaborate further and answer any questions. This is/will be an open-source application, and you will be credited for your work. ## Deliverables * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Monday Jan 12, 2009 6:12:42 PM: Clarification on the required network data: Given this sample data: Participant A has Facebook Friends B, C, Z Participant B has Facebook Friends A, X, Z Participant C has Facebook Friends A, Y, Z For each participant, determine which friends know each other, using as few API queries to Facebook as possible. In this case, only X->Z and Y->Z would need to be tested, as all the other "friend" relationships of interest in the sample (A->X, A->Y, A->Z, B->C, B->Z, C->Z) are already implicit in this data. X->Y doesn't matter, because X and Y are never in the same network. So the algorithm needs to fill all the "holes" in the relational data (for 200 participants and 1,000s of "friends"). Then a complete network report can be generated for each of the 200 participants (2a and 2b of the request). I've been told that this relational data is simple to query using the Facebook Platform APIs -- I imagine the coder will need a Facebook API developer key and working knowledge of the Platform.
