While various metadata schemes, such as DC, VRA, MODS etc., have been established for describing and indexing information resources, they are not necessarily a ‘perfect’ fit for particular real-life situations. Instead, sometimes a completely new scheme may be developed for a specific collection and/or system. For this assignment, you are asked to imagine that you are leading a project team charged with developing a metadata scheme and develop a metadata scheme for a collection of postage stamps from different countries. and write a report that describes your scheme and justifies your decisions with reference to the collection and user context.
