Graphic Design of Application Software User Interface

Introduction We need a graphical user interface designer to work with us to re-design the appearance of our application software for managing non-profits’ data ([login to view URL]) in order to modernize the appearance. Our customer base is non-profit organizations and charities all over the world, but mostly in North America. People love the functionality of the software, however we receive feedback that our user interface is outdated. The design project will entail creating/picking a color scheme, designing buttons and other graphical elements, changing layout of windows, and other aspects of the appearance of the software. We anticipate that this initial project will take approximately 100-200 hours of work. Once this initial project is done, we will require occasional additional user interface design work, as the software evolves and grows. The Design Task (must be completed to apply for this job) In order to apply for this job, you must complete a design task. The design task is to re-design the appearance of this window. [login to view URL] This is a typical list window in Sumac and most of the time, this is what a user is working with. The window has a panel at the top for specifying searches, a list of records in the middle, and buttons at the bottom. The New, Delete, Export or Print, and Select All buttons are universal -- they are on all lists. Other buttons are added depending on the particular list. The very bottom is a status bar that shows: number of records in the list, help when you point at a button, and progress for long operations. We want you to switch to a combination of colour, and graphical elements (frames, list titles, buttons, etc.) which looks more modern, more website-looking, lighter, more friendly. You can provide one treatment or a few -- it's up to you. Note that Sumac works now on Linux, Macintosh, Windows, so your design must not be platform-dependant. Eventually we will support tablet computers. Feel free to ask questions about the task.
