Boot converted Physical to virtual linux ipcop in vmware workstation

Dears 1 of our employees have changed the root / admin password of our IPCOP linux firewall, we need to get the configuration, restore it in another new virtual ipcop machine, without resetting the password. the production server is installed in Physical server HP proliant ML 310 e gen 8 v2, on raid 1, with 2 HHDs 1 terrabyte each as a solution we have backup up the HHDs using symantec system recovery and then convert the 2 HHDs to vmdk, we still not able to boot the vm machine, if the VM booted up we can reset the password and get access to the configuration we need your help to bootup the ipcop in a vmware workstation machine you will get team viewer access to the host where the vmware workstation is installed
