What is the mission : We must operate a program written in R that has been provided to us. We have the source code but it doesn't work because it was written a long time ago and the author is no longer reachable. According to our first tests, the code is dependent on some libraries that are no longer functional. It seems that this code is also dependent on components running under Windows. The first step will be to make the program run locally on a Windows or a Linux environment. The second step will be to bundle it and/or document a installation process that will allow us to install it on a server and automate calls to this software from an API. What we are looking for : • A R language specialist with deep knowledges of R, Packrat and RStudio • Good written English skills for writing documentation and communication. • Really good technical skills in Python is a plus. A read access to our git will be given for you to evaluate the workload and deliver a quote.

Hi, I am a specialist in the R programming language with a deep knowledge of the language including package creation and maintenance as I currently maintain an R package on CRAN. I would like to assist you to build a current working version of your R code by trying to find all missing components and recreating or possibly building a new environment in which the code will function. Thereafter, we develop an API that will allow for access to the system remotely providing output in specified formats given specified inputs. Once this is running, we will develop documentation on how to install the system in future on specified target systems and how to use it, while possibly creating a fully automated install script to ease this process.

I am specialized in R as I am in the final year of actuarial science and had to gain a specialization in using Rstudio and libraries associated with them, I will be able to get this started for you relatively quickly. This sounds like some of the logic requires update/ migration to new libraries. I also have more experience with python as I do allot of data analytics and it requires me to use both R and Python. If you give me an opportunity to work on this, you will not be disappointed. As long as the logic worked when the program was initially developed, then I should be able to fix this with relative ease. I can complete this quickly and get this running for you as long as the program is not too redundant. I will complete the first step and release an agreed-upon milestone and then we can go towards the second step.
