The java project which I need help with is an application developed in Java SDK 2.0, it runs under WIndows 2003. I would like to 'port' the application over to Java Micro Edition (J2ME) platform for use on a PDA running Windows CE 3.0. I have all the Source code and the ANT make files.
Background:
I downloaded J2ME, the Connected Device Configuration (CDC) profile and the integrated Development tool Netbeans 5.5.1 from Sun's website to use for recompiling the application, so far I am not having any luck. The compiler gives me errors specific to the Package locations of the (import java.sql.*;) , path files, import files not found, etc...
I need help in configuring the J2ME development environment so it will run on my Laptop using Netbeans CDC emulator, I need specific information, step by step procedure for setting up the development environment. Specifically, which packages to download from Sun, which development tools to download and install, how to install them, steps and proceudres to configure them correctly, also any other information about the . i.e, Class Path, Java Home environment variables, compiler library, etc
I have learned from my own research that sql does not woek/compile on J2ME without first downloading and importing a package from Oracle that allows the use of sql connection strings and then compiling the package before use. You must be famliar with J2ME and sql.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
## Platform
J2ME for CDC to be able to run on WIndows CE.
The successful completion of this task requires that the environment is setup on my laptop's environment, the files compiled successfully and a JRE file generated for testing on the PDA or the PDA simulator.
