Our company sells high spec gaming PCs and we recently had a team of programmers from RAC develop a new system. It got very close to the end but wasn't quite finished as they decided to stop communicating with us. We need some final changes to the system that shouldn't take too much time however it may take some time to familiarize yourself with the coding of the system. Once these are done we can launch the new website live on the new server. We then need a company to contact for various changes and new products in the future as the system will be changing frequently. If there is a problem with the system we have to have somebody to contact very quickly or it could cost us a lot of money. The person will ideally be in the UK but if not the US. The most important thing to us is contact every 24 hours (when coding for us) and hitting deadlines. The original project ran over by many months and cost us a considerable amount of money because of this so we are eager to get a new company that can hit deadlines and always keep us in the loop. We don't expect to have to pay a lot for the changes however we want to build a relationship with a team of programmers for future changes and projects which could be very profitable for the successful bidder. We would like to receive a very small bid for the first changes to show that the bidder wants to make this a long term thing and not simply some quick cash as we need a reliable company. When bidding please give some information about your company, your past and present projects and contact details. The website that needs the final changes is [login to view URL] You will see it is very close to completion and upon accepting the bid we will show the successful bidder the back end admin pages. The website is coded purely in PHP. Again I must emphasize that this first job is worth very little but if completed successfully will lead to many thousands of dollars being spent each year. Simon Dadd Quality Computing ## Deliverables Below is the list of changes that are required, directed towards our old programmers of the system before they decided to stop communication with us. This is what this job consists of but as said earlier there will be many more jobs and changes in the future: **Front End Issues:** -When adding to cart there can be a problem where a plain white page is displayed or a sql error saying ??" select * from ccs_accessory where id=none ----Unknown column??none?? in??where clause??. This sql error can also be caused from loading a saved quote and then clicking on the accessories and software step that is highlighted blue. -The fact I am seeing a sql error is not good as front end users should see a more user friendly page that is the same template as the rest of the site with the sql error. The sql error needs to be shown so that if errors happen they can be reported and diagnosed but if the website could keep the template when an error happens it wouldn’t look so daunting to the end user. -Images for the products are not loading on page load and you have to click on the already selected radio buttons to display the image. The customer would not know to do this so please make sure they load on page load. -When the image is shown it pushes the writing of the component to the right. Please position the writing a little further to the right anyway so that displaying the image to the left of the writing doesn’t move the writing. -The compare feature on more info doesn’t work properly. If you go to compare one item with another it should display items but instead just jumps to the other item. Also on the more info there should be a picture of the product to the right of the writing so please make the writing wrap around the picture. -The small pictures to the left of the products should be clickable and once clicked open the more info box. -The “order online or call…?? text is missing from the top right of the web pages. This can be found on [[login to view URL]][1]. Please add it. Prices are still loading incorrectly some of the time. This is a major issue and cannot happen when the cart goes live which I want to do after these final changes. The prices seem to load incorrectly more often when for some reason radio buttons are not selected but this doesn’t always happen and is an intermittent problem. Please make sure you find the root of the problem as this could result in major problems down the line. -Every now and then the core components are not shown in the basket when checking out. This happens when the price is all messed up. -The cart doesn’t remember what components have been selected if you click between the 3 steps at the top of the page. So for example you click on services and warranty and then core components then click back to services and warranty. The services and warranty selections at this point will be incorrect and go back to default. -Print configuration is showing incorrect category names. Please change them to new ones eg. Servides and Warranty and Accessories and Software. -Sometimes the radio buttons are not being selected when they should be and this causes the prices to be way off. This is an important issue to resolve. For example this morning I was looking at a pc model in admin and every category had something selected and when I loaded the model front end only 1 category had something selected and even the price on this was wrong. However after playing around with the cart it changed so clearly it is an intermittent problem. Please make sure that this cannot happen. -When checking out a previous change made has been reversed. I asked that the text about ifyou already had an account log in change. Please change wording to “If you already have an account with us, please click here to login??. Maybe a file was overwritten by mistake as this was changed a while back. -Company name in checkout should be optional without a * next to it as plenty of people order a personal machine. -Please change “Please Enter Billing Detail?? to “Please Enter Billing Details??. -Please make the write notes box the same width as the page to look neater. -On the track an order page the new user link needs to be removed as if they are tracking an order they will already be a user. -Please make sure that wherever there is any sort of login page there is also a “I have forgotten my password?? link. When they click on it, it will show them a page that says “An email has been sent to your email address with your password. If you don’t receive this email within 30 minutes, please contact us by phone or email??. -In login and register pages the password has sever “***?? in already without the user typing anything. Please delete these so that it is blank when the user loads the page. -Please remove Payment Status column in My Account area. The user only needs to see the Order Status column. -When you report a problem make it so that it says “Your report has successfully been submitted to us. We will get back to you shortly via email or telephone??. -The find us options ordering in admin should be the order it is displayed to the user in the drop down list in checkout pages. Please change it so that this is the case. -The configuration box that says log out currently does not look very good to the end user. Please make it so that there is a “Log Out?? link where the quickjup menu is for all pages where the user is not looking at PC models and where the quickjump menu is in the way please put the “Log Out?? link in the sliding box itself under the Add to Cart button. The configuration box can then be deleted. **Admin Issues:** -Still times out when in use sometimes. -Need ability to add admin users so it isn’t just admin user and admin password to login. -Need to have ordering of PC models like on component categories with move up and down. Please make sure the order they are in is the order they display in the quick jump menu. -Automated emails are not being sent. I have tried saving a configuration , registering, ordering etc and not one email. Please make sure that all emails get sent reliably. -Why upgrade needs to be at component category level and not component level. For instance why upgrade will be the same for all processors so please remove this from components and put it under component categories. Please do the same for accessories and software and services and warranty. -Top tickbox in admin under most pages looks like if you click it, it will select all items in the column but doesn’t appear to do anything. Please make it so that it selects all items if clicked. -How will I be able to add pages in the future? There really needs to be a function to add pages in the webpages part of admin. Is this possible? -The invoice template needs to be changed as we are now VAT registered and certain changes had to be made. Please let me know when you get to this point and I will send you the new invoice template. -Needs to be a deactivate and fixed option for Services and Warranty and a fixed option for accessories and software. -Currently there are notes in red under component categories which is great, however what we really need is to have different notes for different ranges. So under each category we need to have a Media Centre Range Notes, Home Office Range Notes, Gaming Range Notes, Extreme Gaming Range Notes, LAN Gaming Range Notes etc. Please make sure that when a new range is added this will automatically add a new notes box for each category for that range. The reason this is necessary is that a buyer of a £500 computer needs to know different things to one of a £8000 computer and this is an important feature to have.
