During that period I have installed, administrate and maintain a large amount of various servers, such as web server, mail server, dns server, etc, based on CentOS, FreeBSD, RHL, etc. And of course I have a lot of experience in working with MS Servers and other products. As well as I have some experience in the database design, development and maintenance. So, I believe that have enough skill and experience for any kind of IT job I`d like to ask a few questions 1. There are many ways to do cloning a system running a open source OS like your live server. If your system is a live one, run in a production system, I recommend solution like P2V or P2P or even dd. If your system can go offline, you can use several tools like Clonezilla, PartedMagic or ddrescue to do the job for you. I am very pleased if I can help you.

using wmware converter would do it without even restarting your server. It's a great tool but it would need to reinstall grub on the new image

My method is (source server will be online): 1) rsync files 2) backup and restore databases 3) install bootloader 4) change network setting To estimate clone duration give me some information: 1) output for: df -i; df -h 2) what kind are these servers? virtual or dedicated? hi, depending on what services run on the production server we will decide what to clone and how frequently ... may be will do a automated clone every x m/h/d etc etc ps: you need to have the same linux distro (& version if you what full system clone) and a least same space on the new server pps: i don't recommend full system cloning
