Mathematics of cryptocurrencies - Hashing
Project is to explore the relevant algorithms in hashing giving background knowledge on the topic as a whole, implement basic version of hashing and study its security ie the relevant problems that can arise like the collision problem , the preimage problem and the second preimage problem all examples of problems should be coded into matlab and a detailed explaination of what can be done to overcome the problems should be explained in the written essay , including world cases in which hashing is used and finally an analysis on the security of hashing and how it is used in bitcoin and the bitcoin mining process  ive been instructed to make the code based on the information found in Stinson's book on cryptography there the three problems can be found is it possible to link with the tutor so when we meet we can discuss it properly if the algorithm cannot be created I wanted to create just a basic version if possible in matlab if you refer to what I have said down below and the link forwarded hopefully that may help.
so in matlab im trying to create a basic hash function , I want the code to take a string of data convert it from binary to hexadecimal then uses these 5 variables to has the data :
h0:DIJFDF12
h1:SETO24H
h2:MCW2301
h3:SS12D021
h4:SDIO3210
and bitwise logic seen from the pseudocode for the hash function SHA1:[login to view URL]
I don't mind if its very basic I just need it to work and if possible could you explain why you used or did certain things in matlab. this is the main bulk of my assignment for extra marks I was told I should create or make an exemplar code that can be used to test for collsions it does not have to be used in matlab.
