** Individual contractors only. ** # Overview We have fallen behind on our React Native version and are experiencing JSC crashes on Android that, according to Github issues, are fixed in newer versions of React Native. The goal of this project is to upgrade from 0.63.4 to 0.66.3. # Our tech stack We’ve built an app in React Native and deployed it to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. We use Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud Functions to implement custom backend functionality and GCP Firebase Firestore to provide a document store for user information. All code is written in TypeScript, unit and component tests are written in Jest, our code is housed in Gitlab, stories are managed in Pivotal Tracker, and our build pipeline runs on Bitrise. We hold virtual meetings via Google Meet if necessary. # Expectations and development responsibility You will be responsible for upgrading React Native and validating the upgrade does not break any functionality of the app. We have special use cases around time zone management and therefore cannot use the Hermes engine. Specifically, we need the `[login to view URL]` API which is not supported by Hermes (see [login to view URL]). We do not expect other libraries to be upgraded but if other libraries must be upgraded to support RN 0.66, we will discuss additional payment at that time. We expect all pull requests to pass `yarn tsc && yarn lint && yarn test` to verify type safety and our tests. We expect work to commence within 7 calendar days of contract award.
