One of the biggest problems with students nowadays IS NOT reading or writing, but rather the ability to speak English clearly, with proper pronunciation. The reason is the many students in developing countries do not and have not received the adequate 'EAR TRAINING' required to be able to speak and pronounce words properly - Either the British or the American/Canadian accent. My aim will not necessarily be to correct accent and dialect, because that comes with practice. Furthermore, dialect and accent cannot go easily because certain sounds of words that are similar in the students L1 language and the Target Language T1 (English) and mother tongue interference WILL play its part. The more I speak with my students, the more ear training they will receive of the proper pronunciation of words.
