My dear friend,

Referring to SolidWorks, and I have a budget of 150 $ per month ...

This time around 2015-02-05 I work with someone an invention for kitchen ware ... something very good, people in the trade say … other projects hopefully later ...

I would need some 3D Modeling and Software Setup help, tutoring, you to design more complex parts, such as mechanical handles, etc ... not what we invented, but must have eg such handles in the whole "picture", etc ... models can also be purchased from the Internet, but we still need your help ... models do not need be exact, at least symbolically, etc ...

I know every skillful person like you is busy ... but we do not have a mega project, if you could help us a little here and here in a timely manner is what we hope for ...

Problem two, but actually the first, is the correct settings for SolidWorks Explorer... it does not rename in all folders for some reasons ... do not know why, hopefully you can help us ...

So we tried Workgroup PDM ... it works fine, but eg I do not know how to backup it in case we had to restore or reinstall Windows 7 ...

I also tried SolidWorks Enterprise PDM ... (SW EPDM) ... but so far I cannot connect to the PDM Server ... EPDM seems a great program ... does what SolidWorks Explorer and Workgroup PDM do, but much more, easier and better ... see links Below ...

And by the way, have the same problem with broken links in AutoCAD ... when renaming files ... I see that (or other solutions can be simpler?) SolidWorks Enterprise PDM deals with AutoCAD and any other file types as well, such as Excel, etc ...

Ah, my favorite part of the software. You've certainly Heard people say about EPDM That "if you know how to use Windows Explorer, you already know how to use EPDM." This Could not Be more true than in the Areas of moving around and copying files inside the vault. I want to start off by seeing if you caught my trick question regarding Above Moving files. SolidWorks and SWEx Neither one have the Move function, Which is Why There are so many add-ins on the market that allow you to move files Without damaging references. In EPDM, it's as simple as cut and paste.

2. Unique Names

Every file in the vault Workgroup must have a unique name. You can't have two parts Called Bracket Assemblies or two Called "Initial Concept" Even if They are in different folders. In theory this is a good practice, however users find it restrictive and William Outside work the system to get around it.

Taking this a step Further, folder names must BE Also unique. If you have folders for Projects and like to organize Them with subfolders, like "Artwork", "Customer Requirements" or "Schematics" Those and you have to make unique names as well. This is cumbersome and restrictive Often times Even more than file names.

3. Not good for managing non-SolidWorks files

SolidWorks Workgroup was designed to manage files (Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings.) Any other file That Would like to manage the user must BE done with SolidWorks Explorer. You Can either Drag and Drop files into the vault Those and, One at a time Only, or add in the process Them That is a lot more like uploading a file to a website. Getting them out and changing Them is similarly tedious.

The sooner we can get in touch in a friendly manner, and a budget that we can afford, the better ...

Eventually we may /will be successful - with the help of someone like you, and look forwards to additionally reward your help at the right time, etc … future collaboration, one thing leads to another, etc ... all the best ...
