Format a word .doc Table of Contents

Greetings, I've been working with someone on this 2-book project but he's disappeared, so I need to find someone proficient in Microsoft Word to finish it up. I have several places in the books which refer to other places in the books, and I need to insert the right page number. Before I do that, the table of contents needs to be corrected so that the page numbers are accurate. In the TOC, both the section heading and lots of text are formatted as "headings". This makes them show up in the auto-format of the TOC. So the TOC with say, for example: I'm trying to go through and change everything so that it'll appear in the TOC properly (can't just do it by hand because when the thing re-page-numbers it'll all come back). But for some reason doing this makes word crash on my computer. very frustrating. So I need you to reformat the TOC by looking at the headings, going to the section in the book it needs to happen before page numbers are updated throughout the text, because the TOC will get much smaller and this will effect page numbers. would you please try to fix the TOC, then I'll update the high-lighted page numbers when that's done
