Hello, Yes, Azure and WordPress don't go too well together during the setup phase, as I discovered to my regret a couple of weeks ago. (I had to struggle for almost 3 days to get WordPress going over a Virtual Machine instance at Azure.) Due to client confidentiality reasons, I can not give you an example but what I can tell you is this: Attempting to install a WordPress instance/image directly from the Azure Gallery will probably not work - at least, it did not for me, even after multiple attempts. The process would just die somewhere along the way. What did work for me was this: Setup a Virtual Machine -> Setup LAMP stack -> Install WordPress (worked every time for me) With the full LAMP (or LEMP) stack in place, multiple avenues of performance optimisation would open up which can be exploited to milk the max possible speed/performance with mimimum resource utilisation, at the root/OS/stack level. Thereafter, further optimisation would be easily achievable via the usual WordPress options, caching plugins etc. I hope what I stated above will convince you that I've actually been there, done that and that I know what I'm talking about.
