Before you bid on this, please realize that I am not looking to spend more than $300-400 on this project.
This is a pretty simple iPhone app I need done. I already run a website and I need a portion of the website turned into an iPhone app.
First of all, please visit [login to view URL] In the bottom right hand corner, you will see a button called “Spin the Globe”. If you roll over this button, a window pops out and a globe starts spinning. I want an application called Spin the Globe, that when opened, shows a page that says
Step 1. Place your finger on one side of the globe and quickly drag it to the other side of the globe.
Step 2. Place your finger on the spinning globe to be whisked away to a new location!
Below that there will be a button called “Continue”.
The user will then be taken to a page that has the Globe NOT moving. A user must grab one side of the globe by pointing his finger down on the side and then quickly moving his finger to the other side. The globe will begin spinning and the speed at which it spends will depend on how fast he spins it. The user will then touch any place on the globe to stop it. Whenever the user touches down, he will be taken to a specific location… Please test it out on the above-referenced link to see what I mean. When a user clicks down, he will then be taken to a page corresponding with the location that he clicked on.
I own this website, so I will provide you access to the relevant pages so you can download and use all that has already been done.
Also, the purpose of the spin the globe is so that a user will use it to select a destination randomly. For instance, imagine you had a REAL globe and you spun it really fast and then decided to place your finger at a point on it. Realistically, the globe is supposed to spin so fast that you don't know WHERE it's going to stop. Once they spin it, the globe will spin so fast that you can't really see anything. Then, once they click it, it should bring them to a destination based upon where they clicked. For instance they will go to a page like this: [login to view URL] On that page, we’re going to need for it to say “Welcome to Boise, Idaho!” (For the United States it needs to be “city, state” but for everywhere else in the world it needs to be “city, country”). Below the welcome, it will automatically take a snipet of the intro of the text from the location’s Wikipedia article with a link to “view full article” and then below that it will have a list of images taken from Flickr. For Flickr, it is basically going to display thumbnails of images from the Flickr API based upon the most popular search results on Flickr for that city. So if you are on Paris, France, it will use the Flickr API to pull the most popular image results for that search and display their thumbnails. Then, if the user clicks a thumbnail, it will open a larger version of the window that takes up the majority of the window with an X with a circle around it so the user can easily close the window. We should display approximately 20 images. Additionally there needs to be an advertisement just below these too. These advertisements will appear on the app at ALL times, so even if the user is scrolling down to view more images, the advertisement will be stuck on the page. The good news is that all of this has already been created and is on my website, you will just need to take that which has been done on my website and put it on the iPhone app.
We need to make sure that the ocean is never clicked. Realistically the user will put his finger down often… but we need to combat this possible issue. As such, we should have it bring the user to the closest location he has clicked... so that he is always brought SOMEWHERE (and not the ocean). I think the best way of doing this is marking where the user clicks vertically and just have a list of possible locations on a horizontal axis so no matter where he clicks vertically, he will be taken to a specific location out of all the locations listed on that access. This will work perfectly because the use will generally have an idea where he is clicking based upon the vertical location he clicks on the globe. For instance, if he clicks up high on the globe, he knows he will not be clicking a destination in South America, but if he clicks low, he knows he will not be clicking a destination in North America.
The top task bar needs to say “Spin the Globe!” but then when they have spun it should have a button for Back and Help.
Once you get access to my source files and database you will see how everything is working and what needs to be done. You will need to tweak certain things to make sure they work proper, but it’s not that difficult of a task.
