The web service then will compare this list with the ones available in the Web Server and sends back the required file to the client along with the list of files need to be pushed from the client. Hello. I am experienced .NET developer and I can create a solution for you. I think, the best way is use FileSystemWatcher class for track changes of folder or files in the folder. When app got a event(file added, changed or deleted) it store event in database and, if network and WCF service are avaliable - send info about event. If network or service are not avaliable - it will be send on next connection to service. Service has similar algoritm: - watch to changes at the specific folder; - store event at db; - if client connected and avaliable - send notification about changes; - if client not avaliable - will send notification when client connected. When client or server receive notification - processed this notification and, if it acceptable, send request to transfer file data. If request approved - start data transfer session. The mechanism of transfer data must use transaction. So, if at one of steps we got a error - we'll automaticly rollback this transaction and will start it another at next time.
