Format a 53,000 word report - fast!

This is a 53,000 word consultant's report which requires fast formatting to a reasonably high standard. The report has to be presented in Arial font, 14pt, with 1.5 line spacing. When printed it will be on A4 paper. Currently its in this format, and is around 286 pages long. However it doesn't look that great. The document has been prepared in Microsoft Word 2013, and should be edited in Microsoft Word. The work is to be undertaken on a confidential basis. The report is comprised of around 13 different reports which have been made into one. Known problems which need fixing are: - Table numbers and figure numbers need updating. - After updating the references to table numbers and figure numbers will be wrong (eg where it previously said "Table 3 shows....." it might now be "Table 24 shows..." - Widow/orphan check - Justification check - Inconsistent formatting of tables Additionally the report kind of sucks in terms of its layout. The table of contents is long (9 pages). This means that either (a) the executive summary is buried at page 10, or (b) the table of contents, if inserted after the exec summary, is buried at page 16. An elegant solution could be a 1 to 2 pages summary before the table of contents, and then the exec summary. You will need to go through the executive summary and write a 1 to 2 page summary The report essentially has 3 parts: Executive Summary, Introduction, and then a Discussion Paper section, with 12 discussion papers. The division between the 3 parts needs to be a bit cleaner and clearer, including clear delineation of the 3 parts in the TOC. At the moment the TOC doesn't show the 3 parts that clearly. Finally your work has to be done in a way that when changes are made (and changes are highly likely to be made) your lovely layout, formatting and TOC doesn't collapse. What you can do: - Change the layout - Change the type and font for headings, titles, figures, tables etc. - Make other formatting changes, so long as the body text is Arial, 14 point, 1.5 times line spacing - Write a 1 or 2 page initial summary (of the executive summary - you aren't expected to read the whole report) - Create a list of figures and tables if you believe this is necessary What you cannot do: - Rewrite the document - Proofread To do this work: - You must be totally fluent in English. - Be an advanced Microsoft Word user. - You must have experience in the formatting of consultant's reports (think McKinsey, Earnst and Young, etc). - Provide a confidentiality declaration. - Be able to do the work in a very short time frame (no more than a 12 hour turnaround). - Provide a short sample of a report you have formatted, provided in Microsoft Word, that demonstrates your ability to use Word's formatting and layout capabilities effectively.
