Hello. I am working on a MSc research entitled: Particle Swarm Optimization of Self-Consumption for Solar PV Integrated Buildings. General objective: to develop a model for the optimization of the generation of solar photovoltaics on buildings to minimize the impacts on the grid distribution network while taking into account various self-consumption objectives. Specific objectives: 1. To optimize self-consumption of solar PV integrated buildings using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Technique. 2. To analyze the results of the proposed methodology and compare with other existing methodologies. The following key points must be addressed: i. Consider a flat-roofed vertical building located within the coordinates 1.2921° S, 36.8219° E (Nairobi, Kenya) ii. Consider solar PVs on the rooftop and the four facades of the building. iii. Consider shading factor due to other adjacent buildings. iv. The optimization objectives for self-consumption to be considered are: a. Energy exchange between the building and the grid. b. Load variations through ramp rates. c. Economic benefits through NPV. NB: Formulate a multi-objective mathematical function for the three optimization objectives above. v. Provide a flowchart for the optimization problem in PSO. vi. Provide data simulations of load profile. vii. Write MatLab codes for the optimization problem as well as Simulink diagrams. viii. Provide results for the optimization problem in PSO. ix. Compare the results with other optimization techniques like SA. x. The results should include: a. Influence of the optimization objectives on the optimal integration. b. Influence of the building load profile. c. Parametric study of the impact size and energy consumption of the building.
