Project eAttendance is a software application that can assist any lecturer in capturing their student attendance at that moment in a class, to keep track of student attendance. Objectives The main objective is to eliminate the issue of lectures losing their class register paper, student signing for each other and student assistant typing manually the signed register details. Problem summary eAttendance should exist because it will make lecturers and student assistant’s life easier relating to keeping track of students attendance. It will help reduce the issue of student signing for each other and assist the lecturers in getting a clear indication of a student attendance to his classes. It also eliminate the work given to the student assistance of manually capturing the signed class register into the database, it also fix the problem of losing attendance class register paper. It will help reduce the time spent by lectures in calculating the percentage of attendance for a student as well as for a class, in a click of a button a lecture can generate a report at any point in time. During examination a student’s image will be displayed after the scanning process to help the lectures and the invigilators identify students before recording their attendance. Solution summary The application brings a whole new way of using attendance register, we will introduce the a barcode scanner that will be used to scan the student card which will contain a unique student identification number, that will be inserted at the back of the student card. The twelve digit will be sent to the database to confirm the presence of a student will remain to display the student record before changing to the state to accept another student card number. Each recorded date will be sent to the database which will be developed using database processing application. Structure query language (SQL) will be used to query data to produce various kind of attendance report. Attendance report generated by the lecturer will be divided into three types of reports such as daily weekly and monthly s documented in manual attendance record. Indirectly this system will aide in generating warning letters to students who didn’t fulfill the school requirement on the attendance matter.
