I have a few thousand karaoke songs in .zip file format in a folder and sub folders on my hard drive. I use a karaoke access database on my hard drive that has thousands of songs in it for printing books and such with the Correct names called kj pro. The general format of naming the files is disc type ??" Artist ??" Song Name. Here are a few examples:
SC1008-07 - Keith, Toby - I'm Just Talkin' About [login to view URL]
DK08-03 - Bee Gees - Stayin' [login to view URL]
The problem is, some of my file names are not right, they may have underscores in them or the songname before the artist, missing apostrophes, spaces, etc..
I want a vb.net program to read my folder of my songs (and sub folders as an option) of the .zip files, and check each song in the database and then rename my file to what the song in the database is (in the database there is no .zip extention though. So basicly if the disc type, artist, and song name match in any way, the file would be renamed. If there is already a file in the folder that is the same name then we would just delete the file we are trying to rename.(this prevents duplicates) and If it is not in the database then we just leave it as is.
A preview option of the songs current name and new name would be nice before naming them (at least until im confident the thing works right. maybe list boxes.
There is a shareware program available that does something similar to this but makes you click ok with a preview of every single song, which would take forever.
A log .txt file showing files that were renamed in that session would be nice.
here is the db i use. Its pretty big. its at [[login to view URL]][1]
or a demo about 16 meg is here (i think its the same format): <[login to view URL]>
