A Java library needs to be implemented to generate PDF documents on-the-fly. The library needs to be very robust and customizable, as it will be used to generate 300+ pages of information from a Database. The information will be in various categories and each section will be output somewhat differently to another. No functionality is needed to edit existing PDFs, or import existing PDFs. This library only needs to build and output PDFs. The library needs to support the following for example: * Rich text. Control over font-size, colour, underlines, bold, italics, etc. * Page-flow. Text should flow correctly. * Columnized output. Some pages might not be columnized. Others might have 2 columns, or even 3. * Margin tweaking. * Per-page processing. o Before text blocks are printed onto page, systems need to be in place to draw basic shapes and images into specific locations. o For example crop marks and trim marks need to be drawn, and other various things to aid in physical printing of the document. o Headings and footers, page numbers etc. Attached is very in-depth information, example PDFs, and a complete implementation in PHP that is very similar to what is needed for this project. Please feel free to have a chat with me before you place a bid if you so desire! Use either the RAC system or the contact details in the Spec document provided.

Hello bidders, I have investigated a couple of alternate PDF libraries suggested by you guys. Apache FOP doesn't suit my needs - I need fine-grained control from code, not markup. iText looks ok - as long as the coder implements a straightforward interface for me to use it. I want to be able to start writing marked-up text anywhere in the page and have it flow based on margins/columns that I set up. Regards, Sam
## Platform
Java SE 1.6 FPDF Pure Java implementation - so should run on Sun JVM on any OS.
