ExpressionEngine/PHP Search/Register modification

We have an ExpressionEngine site that we have full root access to. It uses ExpressionEngine Search Module and Member Management Module. Currently, when someone performs a search on our site but is not registered, they are prompted to register. After completing registration, their search session is not stored, so they must perform the search again. It seems that the search could simply be stored in a session variable and after registration, if the variable is populated, it redirects to their search results page. Please advise if any additional information is required before you are able to place a bid. This should be an easy project for the right person with strong PHP and/or ExpressionEngine skills.
