I want to use GAIM on my home PC (Windows XP Professional SP2), but for some reason it just won't work. It installs fine, but when I run it, I just get an hourglass for a few seconds, then... nothing. No errors, no program, no log files, just... nothing. Running the debug version doesn't seem to turn up any obvious errors - I can send you the output. I can't think of any reason it shouldn't work - I'm a computer professional and my system is up to date, working fine, not infested with spyware, or anything else bizarre. Trillian and all other programs work fine. The latest GTK (the one that comes with GAIM) is installed properly as far as I can tell. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it just doesn't work. This could be a simple fix, or it could take a little while, I don't know. I need someone who knows GAIM and who speaks English well to work with me to get it working on my system. I'm perfectly happy to donate whatever fixes you come up with back to the GAIM project under GPL. I can provide information about my system (debug output, system config info, etc) and of course some tasks might be required on my part to help you debug the problem, but it's up to you to fix it and either provide a final working executable, or get the necessary fixes into the main code base for the next build.
