WhoIs XML API for Domain Search Site

Hello, I am creating a portal where visitors can search for domain name availability and WhoIs information. I need to create an XML API to implement my own Whois Lookup service by writing a script that queries the appropriate Whois registeries([login to view URL]) and then registrars. The PHP script that I am currently using is not sufficient as it is easily banned form registrars if I query too much. The basic interface will provide results similar to the following: [login to view URL] I believe these results can be achieved in a fashion similar to the following website: [login to view URL] I believe the majority of the code can be obtained here: [login to view URL] Initially the code in the link above was using telnet to lookup records from the publicly available whois servers, but Shared Hosting prevented access to port 43. It now scrapes whois records from a web page.
