I posted this a few weeks back but I wasn't clear on a couple of the details, so trying again.
I want to host a banner rotator on my website, that my users can use to show sets of their banners on other people's websites.
They add banners to campaigns on my site, then I give them code they can add to any 3rd party website that lets them post a banner... and that displays a random image from their chosen campaign.
So they need to be able to put the exact same code on every site, in the form of a linked image:
< a href="[login to view URL]" >
< img src="[login to view URL]" >
< /a >
Where 1234 is a unique campaign name, linking multiple Banner URL and Target URL records in a database.
So there's a few key requirements:
1. We can't use js or jquery etc on the page, because it's going on random 3rd party websites. It needs to be an image url and a target url, both using the campaign name only.
2. The [login to view URL] image link will redirect to a handler script which will execute a database call to grab a random banner from the appropriate campaign, update the stats and send back the correct Banner URL.
3. When a visitor clicks on the banner, the redirect script... [login to view URL] ... needs to determine which banner was actually shown, so it can redirect to the correct Target URL
This last one was the sticking point on my earlier project post.
This will be hosted on a Windows/IIS server, so URL Rewrite can handle the redirect from the .jpg url to the handler script, and send back the random banner image url. Not sure if anything else is required to make it 'display' the image on the remote site?
The bigger challenge seems to be keeping tack of which banner is shown, so the redirect script [login to view URL] knows where to send the visitor. The querystring is only going to provide the campaign id, and it will need to determine the ID of the banner that was shown.
I'm thinking there might be a way to use http or header response? Or possibly some sort of session ID? As long as it's persistent, in case the visitor takes along time to click?
The database is MSSQL and I can provide a stored procedure to handle the banner look-up and stats, or individual queries if necessary.
I can do the same for the Target URL look up as well, as long as you can tell me what banner was shown.
I am open to using php or classic asp for the handler and redirect scripting.
I've seen this set up in use at [login to view URL] using php coding, but it's beyond me what's going on in the background.
I did try posting this on a different site and everyone who responded either offered a standard banner exchange script that required javascript, or various options that pulled images from a folder or text file.
So just to be clear, I need this to function entirely... image display and corresponding redirect... from plain linked image html, using only the campaign name.
If you respond, could you please provide some indication on how you would actually tackle the image handler and the redirection to the correct url, so I can make a quick decision.
Also, thank you to those who responded with to my previous post for this project... hopefully this explains it a bit better, and please feel free to submit a new proposal.
Thanks!

Hello I have experience in technologies like asp, javascript, mssql server. I have knowledge about addrotator. Even we can pick from d also. So better will be discuss it online with screen shot. Hoping to hear form you soon. Thanks
My understanding about your problem is, you want just providing link and campaign image will accomplish the work.
But how different links populate where user click on them?
To accomplish this without adding scripts when user click the campaign image, a window will open. This execute the page on your site and display different banners with links. From there user can choose banner of his choice.
Does this make sense?
