I have a masters degree in computer security from Carnegie Mellon University (#1 CS school in the US) and I have various Digital Forensics professional certifications from SANS. I work with the mentioned encryption protocols on daily basis as part of forensics full time job and I've experience with developing encryption libraries using RSA and AES. I will use AES 256 bits for encryption to ensure a high level of security and use RSA for asymmetric key encryption to encrypt the symmetric key (i.e. AES key) because RSA is very slow and should only be used to encrypt a few or one time messages. I will also use RSA with SHA to provide digital signature and message authentication to prove authenticity and integrity of encrypted messages.
