I'm updating a web site that currently uses 'JW Player' version 5. This version supports 'start' and 'duration' parameters read from an RSS playlist. (see [login to view URL]). With the deprecation of the Flash version of the player video playback is now by progressive-download only, so I would like to update to a modern player that supports HLS and varying connection speeds.
While the current version of JW Player supports HLS it has dropped native support for the start and duration parameters.
So this project is to demonstrate a web page video player that can read [login to view URL] and run through the playlist respecting the start and duration parameters specified for each item. The solution can use the JW Player 8 API to add back the needed functionality, or could use another player entirely, but the demonstration page should run on all common browsers/platforms.
Edit: Here's a basic example of the on-time feature in JW Player that would be presumably be used to add the functionality described above:
[login to view URL]('time', function(obj){
[login to view URL] = 120
[login to view URL]([login to view URL])
if ([login to view URL] >= [login to view URL]) {
[login to view URL]()
};
});
More: [login to view URL]
Hey Adrian! ^_^
Just read the documentation of JW Player and this should be fairly simple. Your snippet should actually theoretically solve your problem already (sort of). The problem I see from the snippet is this line
if ([login to view URL] >= [login to view URL])
[login to view URL] is the current time of the player and [login to view URL] is the duration of the entire video; so what that piece of code does is to basically check if the player is at the end already (from [login to view URL]) which isn't exactly what you want to happen (you would want to check the duration of the xmlitem and not the obj to get the behavior that you wanted). To fix your error, we can do something like this instead:
Note: xmlitem is the current item in [login to view URL]
if([login to view URL] >= [login to view URL] + [login to view URL])
Instead of comparing [login to view URL] to [login to view URL], you should compare it with [login to view URL] + [login to view URL] (time offset + duration of the xml item)
Hope I explained it alright. Will also send you a message :)
